RV Maintenance Tips
1. Tools On Board RV
No matter how solid the rig is, reality is that something will eventually need to be tightened, loosened, hammered, or screwed. Things to consider: wrench set, plier set, wire cutters, pocket knife, adhesives, fasteners, flashlight, and hand protection.
2. Interior Panels In Place
Don’t spill your salt; make sure all internal panels are in place before heading for the open road. Consider installing cabinet door catches to protect your goods (and your noggin).
3. Propane Tanks Full (set to off position)
A propane tank provides many essentials to RVing — from cooking food to showering. Make sure you’ve got a full tank, locked in the off position before setting out.
4. Tire Pressure Within Spec
Check your tire pressure before the start of any long trip. Be careful not to exceed the maximum pressure noted on the tire sidewall.
5. Windows Closed, Tracks & Hinges Lubed
Squeaky windows will drive you crazy, but water damage from dry, cracked tracks can cause pricey water damage. Protect your tracks and hinges and prevent sticking with a lubricant, like the 3-IN-ONE RVcare Window & Track Dry Lube.
6. Jack Stand Raised, Locked
This may seem obvious, but it’s good to check. Lock it up before hitting the road. Getting to your destination and finding no jack stand can throw a major wrench in your plans.
7. Slide-out Rails Lubed, Free Of Debris
Lubricate slide-out rails regularly with products like the 3-IN-ONE RVcare Slide-Out Silicone Lube and keep things moving smoothly while preventing rust and corrosion. Before lubricating, make sure the rails are free of dirt and debris.
8. Lower TV And WiFi Antenna
Forget this step and one highway underpass later you’ll be sitting in your RV reading a book (for better or worse). Check this off the list to prevent entertainment casualties.
9. Retract And Lock Awning
Awning maintenance may not be at the top of your list. But to prolong the life of your sunshade be sure to never store the awning for long periods of time while it’s wet. This creates mold and breaks down the fabric. Periodically, clean dirt and grime buildup on the awnings to keep them tip-top.
